I've been a big fan of the Bloodwych ClassicWB pre-configured hard drive environments and I used the OS3.x one compiled from the OS3.9 CD on my A4000. Also, I use the 68000 version on my Minimig v1.1.
I've been fighting for a while to get these to work on the FPGA Arcade. The only one that seemed to work was the 68000 version and all the others designed for the A1200 and above hung on a black screen (or in the case of the 3.x one, a guro or a reset loop after patching the Kickstart).
Well, today I made some progress. I have the LITE version running on the FPGA Aracde. The culprit was the FBLIT untility called during the startup sequence. I noticed that the thing would boot as long as the system was configured with CHIP RAM only and would hand if any sort of Slow or Fast RAM was added. I then went about disabling various parts of the startup-sequence and the Workbench Startup which allowed me to boot with Fast RAM and then I re-nabled the various parts one-by-one to see which evil little bastard was to blame.
That's the good news. The bad news is that on the FULL and ADVSP packs there is something else causing it to hang. I haven't even looked at the 3.x version yet.
Anyway, I'm going to do some testing of the various games in WHDLoad on the FPGA Arcade, Chameleon64 and Minimig v1.1 (obviously I'll use the FPGA Aracde to test the AGA versions when available).
I'll post a link where you can download the LITE version of my Hard File for those who would like to play with it or test the games. Remember folks that this is a OS3.1 based install so if you don't own a legal copy of OS3.1 (and the OS3.1 floppies in AmigaForever work fine when compiling) then don't download it and you really should delete any games you don't own. I trust you all to make the correct moral decision.
