Am I wrong in thinking that the Aros68k rom image has everything that would normally be in the Kickstart AND everything that would be part of the Workbench that would be loaded from a floppy?

No from what I understand Aros68k still needs to load parts from disk its rom just has support for more hardware and is not yet as optimised as the commodore roms so is larger.

Any progress on trying to run AROS-m68k on a Minimig?

How did you make it...?

I made it this way:
- remap last slowmem bank to 0xE00000 (also mirror at 0xF00000)
- make area writeable at OCS-A1000 chipset
- use ASM-One assembler to upload extended ROM image to mentioned address
- make area read-only (select any other chipset mode)
- reboot by uploading AROS basic rom at 0xF80000 via bootloader
- get a blank screen or so called wild crash.

In case of CDTV extended ROM image this works properly.

Sascha, you shouldn't mirror extended ROM area at $F00000. It may be the reason of the problem.

I've tried even without mirroring, same result.
Therefor I was convinced AROS fail because Minimig core is missing something. Maybe I will try again in time but its a lot of hand-work necessary to get any use of this "Kickstart" ;)

Any news on running aros68k on the Replay board ? Does it run fine -- and will it be a thing we'd like to use as a WB replacement in the future ? I.e. will it work 100% as a replacement, and will its advantages be of such a manner that we can se benefits by running it as opposed to the classic wb 3.1/3.9 ?

It works on my Replay (B0) out-of-the-box.

Remember that to make the 1M ROM for the Replay, you need to have the -ext.bin image before the -rom.bin image in your 1M KICK.ROM file.

If it works as all, it is a good thing for MiniMig/FPGAArcade, as it can be shipped pre-installed. There is a good deal of value in being able to boot out of the box.
