I've got a 1.1 board that shipped with the PIC from amigakit, and I'm pretty sure 2mb. I don't think they offered 4mb as of a couple years ago when I bought it.

What does replacing the PIC with an ARM do for me? Who sells the ARM option? Is this user installable? Ballpark costs?

I'm thinking of sending my minimig back for amigakit's memory upgrade service....

Thanks
kamiga

The ARM Controller board will offer following feature/advantages:

- much faster ADF and HDF data transfer (mostly in read access)
- SPI speed-up hack allows high speed transfer
- firmware update via sd-card (no serial crossover cable needed)
- more compatible floppy emulation
- much more free resources for further update
- full hires OSD frame usage
- display long file names including smooth scrolling
- better OSD handling (even while sd-card access)
- pre-sorting of file name, folder are always on top of list

The board is easy to install. Just carefuly remove PIC out of its socket and plug the ARM board in (it must "hover" over the sd-card slot). In general Minimig is instandly useable with matching FPGA release to installed/flashed ARM firmware release (update may be required).

Currently it is a bit hard to get an ARM board. Im not sure who sells them now.

Very cool.

Anyone know who I would contact? I'm on amiga.net as well, so if there's a user over there? I might post over there.

Is Jakub the right person? Who made it originally? Who "supports" it?

Thanks
kamiga

Im not sure where to get one today.

Does this include "Extended ADFs"?

Also if you have done SPI hack(R51 i think) can you still use the PIC chip or not until you undo SPI MOD?

Like if i wanted to try that Mac core, could I put back in the PIC and try it out. I doubt I'd do that anyway, but I may not even keep the PIC if I have to undo SPI mod to use it.

thanks

Nate

Implementation of this feature is planned for near future.

Only original PIC firmware released by Dennis and its modification made by Jan Derogee is incompatible with this modification. All later releases made by me and Quille are compatible. No need to undo the SPI mod.

I will look forward to support for Extended ADF's being added as I expect this will make saving possible from the very few remaining games such as Cannon fodder that can't save on the minimig when played from adf images.

Is IPF image support also planned at the same time as it would be nice to play uncracked games on the minimig and FPGA Arcade, or will that remain a feature not yet available on FPGA Amiga's for a while yet?
