Hello all,

I'm just purchased a Minimig and am very keen to contribute to its development. In an effort to aid this, does anyone have any documentation for the existing verilog? What I'm after is, for example, a description of the 3 SPI bus protocols, how the FPGA requests ADF data, etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome to these forums :) There's currently no specific documentation as to how the Minimig works, apart from informal forum posts from Dennis and from Yaqube, placed around this forum and www.amiga.org.

Apart from that you can always refer to the source code. The way that the modules are working will eventually start falling into place in your mind. You can find schematics on Dennis' site.

Cheers!
Edwin

Hi Wolfchild,

Thanks for the feedback. I've taken it on board and started with my first change; refactoring the PIC code. This has however leed me to my next question, the PIC Compiler.

I am using the HiTech C compiler and even in Lite or PRO versions the code does not fit when linked. Am I missing something here because I can't see how the code can be 32K. My gut feeling is the printf library however HiTech state that with the PRO version this function is 'adjusted' according to usage.

Anyone out there will to send through the compiler / project settings?

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Do you have the compiler optimization enabled? Usually it's best to optimize for space, as it can reduce Flash space usage by half or more.

Personally, I don't really like the use of a proprietary compiler for an open source project, even though it's freely available. Recently I was looking into the possibility of using SDCC to build the code, as it supports the PIC18F252. I fear that it will be more of a porting exercise than simple refactoring.

Cheers!
Edwin
